Stuttgart The year 2020 will be remembered by all of us in many ways. For example, there were numerous changes such as lockdowns, home offices and crossed entries in the diary that presented everyone with new challenges. Nevertheless, as Stuttgart’s financial center initiative, we were able to achieve a lot for Stuttgart last year together with our partners.
An important step was the foundation of the working initiative of the German financial centers, „Germany Finance“. In this initiative, we want to work together with the other financial centers on important cross-financial center topics such as sustainability or innovations and use our role as spokesperson in 2021 to strengthen cooperation within the German financial ecosystem.
Stuttgart was also able to represent itself internationally as an innovative and stable financial center in the World Alliance of International Financial Centers and make an important contribution to the work of the alliance through the report on „Sustainable Finance“. This also led, among other things, to Stuttgart defending its top 40 ranking in the Global Financial Centers Index.
Locally, the goal continues to support innovation and new business models in the region. For example, our „Startbase“ platform was expanded to become one of the leading start-up databases in Germany and underwent an extensive relaunch. There are now not only more than 5,000 profiles of young companies, but also stories and background information from the German start-up scene.
Furthermore, Stuttgart Financial founded the cross-industry association „Stuttgart Forward“ at the end of the year, in which the development of disruptive technologies and business models in Stuttgart is to be promoted together with partners such as the digital agency „0711“ or the „Virtual Dimension Center“.
These were just a few of the highlights from 2020.
